Most SEO tool roundups are just feature lists sorted by category. This guide is organized around the actual sequence of an SEO or content project — research, backlinks, technical audits, tracking, writing, ad research, design — and names the specific tool to reach for at each stage, what it actually does, what the vendor charges directly, and what the same access costs through GroupbuySEO. It's built from our own catalog, so yes, it also doubles as a map of the GroupbuySEO bundle. But the workflow logic and the vendor prices hold regardless of where you get access.

Every price below carries its source and the date it was checked. Where a vendor bills in a currency other than USD, or publishes no price at all, we say so instead of converting or guessing — a number with no source doesn't belong in a buying guide.

Keyword and competitor research

This is where a project starts, and it's the one stage where using more than one data source genuinely matters — no single tool's keyword index or backlink database is complete, and cross-checking catches the gaps.

Ahrefs

Ahrefs' Keywords Explorer gives you search volume, keyword difficulty, clicks-per-search and SERP history for a term, plus the related terms and questions around it — it answers "is this worth writing about" before you write. Its Site Explorer is the companion tool for the competitor side: paste a domain and see its backlinks, its organic keywords and which pages earn its traffic.

Ahrefs' own pricing page (checked 2 Sep 2026) lists five tiers, and states plainly that the company never runs discounts:

PlanPriceWhat you get
Starter$29/moLimited — competitor lookups only
Lite$129/mo5 projects, 750 tracked keywords, 6 months history
Standard$249/mo20 projects, 2,000 keywords, 2 years history
Advanced$449/mo50 projects, 5,000 keywords, 5 years history
Enterprise$1,499/moAnnual commitment

(Source: ahrefs.com/pricing, checked 2 Sep 2026.) Through GroupbuySEO, Ahrefs is $25/month standalone (groupbuyseo.org pricing, synced 6 Aug 2026), or it's bundled into the Advanced Plan ($30/month, 25 tools) and the Ultimate Plan ($49/month, 88 tools).

Semrush

Semrush overlaps with Ahrefs on keyword research and competitor analysis, but tends to have an edge on paid-search data — its Keyword Magic Tool is built for pulling long-tail variations fast, and its competitor-analysis view shows a domain's organic and paid keywords side by side, plus which pages earn that traffic.

Semrush's own pricing (semrush.com/prices, checked 3 Sep 2026):

PlanPrice
SEO (entry tier)$117.33/mo
Starter$165.17/mo
Pro+$248.17/mo
Advanced$455.67/mo

Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone (synced 6 Aug 2026), and it's the one tool that shows up in every plan we sell — Essential ($10/mo), Boost ($15/mo), Advanced ($30/mo), Super Ecom ($35/mo) and Ultimate ($49/mo).

Mangools (KWFinder)

Mangools is the lighter-weight option of the three — its KWFinder module focuses on long-tail, lower-competition keywords, and SiteProfiler gives a quick domain-overview snapshot without a full competitive teardown. Mangools prices its three tiers in EUR on mangools.com/plans-and-pricing (checked 3 Sep 2026); we're not converting that to a USD figure here, so see the vendor's page for the current rate. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Advanced Plan and the Ultimate Plan.

Use case for this stage: pull your target keyword list from Ahrefs or Semrush, spot-check difficulty in Mangools if you want a second opinion, and note where competitors have backlinks you don't — which leads into the next stage.

Keyword research tells you what to target. Backlink analysis tells you what it will take to actually rank for it — and it's worth a second data source here too, because no link index crawls the whole web.

Ahrefs is generally the strongest single tool for this — Site Explorer's backlink report and Content Gap tool (which shows keywords your competitors rank for and you don't) are what most SEOs open first when sizing up a rival's link profile. Pricing and our cost are the same as above: see the Ahrefs table in the previous section.

Majestic is worth running alongside Ahrefs specifically because it's an independently maintained index — one of the largest link databases in SEO, searchable by domain or URL. Its own Trust Flow and Citation Flow metrics (link quality and link quantity, respectively) are widely cited by other SEO tools as a reference score, and its Link Context feature shows the anchor text and surrounding content of a backlink, not just that it exists.

Majestic bills in EUR on majestic.com/plans-pricing (checked 3 Sep 2026) — again, no USD conversion here, check the vendor page for the current rate. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Advanced Plan, the Boost Plan ($15/mo, 11 tools), Super Ecom and Ultimate.

Technical and on-page audits

This is the stage people skip, and shouldn't. A perfectly researched, well-written page that 404s half its internal links or ships a broken canonical tag won't rank no matter how good the keyword targeting was.

Screaming Frog SEO Spider

Screaming Frog SEO Spider is the standard here — a desktop crawler, not a dashboard. It crawls with no URL ceiling (a 200,000-URL ecommerce catalogue is fine if your machine has the memory), renders JavaScript so it sees React, Vue or Angular sites the way Google does, and lets you pull any element off every page with XPath, CSS selectors or regex. It also connects to Google Analytics, Search Console and PageSpeed Insights so every crawled URL carries its traffic, impressions and Core Web Vitals alongside the crawl data.

Screaming Frog sells this as a desktop licence, not a monthly SaaS plan — priced per year, cheaper per licence the more you buy at once, and billed in EUR on screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/pricing (checked 3 Sep 2026; the vendor may quote you in your own currency). Through GroupbuySEO it's $10/month standalone, included in the Ultimate Plan.

WooRank

WooRank is the lighter, more automated alternative — a single scored report covering on-page SEO, mobile-friendliness, social presence and technical issues for any domain, plus a full site crawl for issues a homepage-only check would miss. It's good for a fast site-health snapshot or a client-facing report; less useful than Screaming Frog for a deep technical dive on a large site.

WooRank's own pricing (woorank.com/en/p/pricing, checked 3 Sep 2026):

PlanPrice
Pro$19.99/mo ($12.99/mo billed annually)
Pro+$89.99/mo ($53.25/mo billed annually)
Premium$199.99/mo ($133.25/mo billed annually)

Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Advanced Plan, Boost Plan, Super Ecom and Ultimate Plan.

Use case: run a full Screaming Frog crawl before a content push goes live, and pull up WooRank when you need a quick, presentable summary for a client who doesn't need crawl-level detail.

Rank tracking

Once content is live, tracking where it lands is what tells you whether the first three stages actually worked. It's a slow feedback loop by nature — meaningful movement takes weeks, not days — so the tool matters less here than the discipline of checking weekly instead of daily and mistaking noise for signal.

SE Ranking

SE Ranking is the most complete option for this stage: daily position tracking across Google, Bing, Yahoo and YouTube, per location and device, with competitors alongside and SERP features flagged. It also folds in a technical site audit with change history, keyword and competitor research, a backlink checker with disavow-file management, and scheduled white-label reporting — the feature that sells most agency subscriptions, per the tool's own product page.

SE Ranking bills in EUR on seranking.com/pricing.html (checked 3 Sep 2026) — Core and Growth tiers on annual billing, Enterprise sales-quoted with no published number. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Ultimate Plan only.

Serpstat

Serpstat covers similar ground — keyword research, competitor analysis, rank tracking and a technical site audit in one platform. Its own pricing (serpstat.com/page/pricing-plans/, checked 3 Sep 2026) runs on annual billing: Individual $50/mo, Team $100/mo, Agency $410/mo. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Advanced Plan, Super Ecom and Ultimate.

Mangools SERPWatcher

If you're already paying for Mangools for keyword research, its SERPWatcher module tracks the same target keywords over time without adding another subscription — a reasonable default for a small site that doesn't need SE Ranking's agency reporting layer.

Content writing and editing

Once you know what to target, the content stage is where AI writing and rewriting tools earn their place — as accelerants, not replacements for editorial judgment. Publish an AI-assisted draft only after a human editing pass; search engines and readers both penalize content that reads as unedited AI output, and that's true regardless of which tool produced the draft.

Jasper AI

Jasper AI is built specifically for long-form marketing and SEO drafts — pre-built templates for blog posts, ad copy and product descriptions, a Brand Voice feature that trains on your existing content so output matches your tone, and a Campaigns mode that generates a related set of assets (an ad, a landing page, social posts) from one brief.

Jasper's own pricing (jasper.ai/pricing, checked 3 Sep 2026): Pro is $59/mo billed annually ($69/mo billed monthly), per seat; Business is custom and requires a sales call. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Ultimate Plan only.

WordAI

WordAI does a different job — sentence- and paragraph-level rewriting that restructures phrasing rather than swapping synonyms, with an adjustable uniqueness dial and a bulk mode for rewriting many articles in one job, which is more useful for product catalogues and location pages than for a single flagship post.

WordAI's own pricing (wordai.com/pricing, checked 3 Sep 2026): Starter $17/mo (capped monthly word allowance), Power $57/mo (higher allowance, bulk rewriting), Enterprise custom. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Advanced Plan, Boost Plan, Essential Plan and Ultimate Plan.

Grammarly and Quillbot

Grammarly is the editing-pass tool: advanced clarity, conciseness and tone suggestions beyond basic grammar correction, full-sentence rewrite suggestions, plagiarism detection against a large published-source database, and a tone detector that adjusts suggestions to the audience you're writing for. Grammarly's Free tier costs nothing; its paid Pro tier is billed in EUR on grammarly.com/plans (checked 3 Sep 2026), and Enterprise is sales-quoted. Through GroupbuySEO, Grammarly is $5/month standalone, included in the Essential Plan, Boost Plan, Advanced Plan, Super Ecom and Ultimate.

Quillbot is a different job again: paraphrasing and tightening prose you've already written. Its Premium tier removes the free tier's word cap and two-mode limit — you get every rewriting mode (formal, simple, creative, expand, shorten), a grammar checker and Co-Writer document editor, a summariser and translator with higher limits, and a plagiarism checker with a monthly page allowance. We didn't find a current vendor price list to cite for Quillbot as of this writing — check quillbot.com directly for its live rates. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Essential Plan, Boost Plan, Advanced Plan and Ultimate.

HIX AI

HIX AI bundles a general AI chat assistant (HIX Chat) with an article and long-form writer that generates structured posts from a topic and outline, a rewriter/summariser/translator with tone controls, and a browser extension for working inline in Gmail, Docs and social sites rather than only in HIX's own editor. As with Quillbot, we didn't find a published vendor price list to cite here — check the vendor's site for current rates. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in Super Ecom and the Ultimate Plan.

Competitor ad research

This stage sits outside core SEO, but it's the natural next step if your work touches paid acquisition or ecommerce: seeing which ads are already running, and for how long, is a proxy for which offers are actually converting.

SpyFu

SpyFu shows every organic and paid keyword a competitor domain has ranked for, with historical data going back years on higher tiers, plus their past ad copy and the keywords they've bid on for PPC. Its own pricing (spyfu.com/pricing, checked 3 Sep 2026): Basic $29/mo, a higher tier at $119/mo for more users and data. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Advanced Plan, Boost Plan, Super Ecom and Ultimate.

AdPlexity (Desktop, Mobile, Native)

AdPlexity Desktop, Mobile and Native are a searchable ad-and-landing-page archive split by device and ad type — desktop display and pop ads, mobile display/pop/in-app ads, and native ads on networks like Taboola, Outbrain and MGID, respectively. Each edition captures the full landing page (HTML, images, scripts) for download, flags how long a campaign has run (a proxy for whether it's actually converting, since nobody keeps paying for a loser), and identifies the affiliate network and offer behind a campaign.

AdPlexity's own pricing (adplexity.com/pricing, checked 3 Sep 2026): Desktop and Mobile are each $199/mo, Native is $249/mo, and every edition is sold separately — there's no bundle discount for running more than one. Through GroupbuySEO, Desktop is $25/month standalone, Mobile and Native are each $20/month; all three are included in the Super Ecom Plan ($35/month, 30 tools) and the Ultimate Plan.

AdSpy

AdSpy covers the social side: a searchable archive of millions of Facebook and Instagram ads, filterable on text, advertiser, media type, country, language and demographics, with engagement signals (likes, comments, shares, how long an ad has been live) to sort by what's actually working, plus a comment-search feature — useful because comments are where buyers say what they actually think of a product. We didn't find a published vendor price list to cite for AdSpy as of this writing. Through GroupbuySEO it's $10/month standalone, included in Super Ecom and the Ultimate Plan.

Design and creative assets

Every stage above eventually needs an image, a mockup or a graphic to ship with it — the ad your research validated, the screenshot in your audit report, the hero image on the post you drafted.

Canva

Canva covers the general case: the full library of premium templates, stock photos, video clips and graphic elements without the free tier's per-asset purchase prompts, a Brand Kit for storing logos, colours and fonts once and applying them everywhere, one-click background removal and multi-size resizing, plus a content planner for scheduling social posts. We didn't find a published vendor price list to cite here — check canva.com directly. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Advanced Plan, Super Ecom and Ultimate.

Figma

Figma is the interface-design and dev-handoff tool: unlimited files and FigJam boards (the free Starter tier caps both at three), unlimited version history instead of a 30-day window, team libraries for publishing components and styles once and reusing them everywhere, and Dev Mode for inspecting specs and code snippets at handoff.

Figma's own pricing (figma.com/pricing, checked 3 Sep 2026): Professional Full seat $16/mo, Professional Dev seat $12/mo, Organization Full seat $55/mo (annual billing), Enterprise Full seat $90/mo (annual billing). Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Ultimate Plan only.

Freepik and the AI image generators

Freepik is a stock-and-template library — a large set of editable vectors, photos and layered PSD mockups downloadable without attribution on Premium, plus Flaticon's icon library, ready-made templates, and built-in AI image generation and editing. We didn't find a published vendor price list to cite here. Through GroupbuySEO it's $5/month standalone, included in the Advanced Plan, Super Ecom and Ultimate.

For original AI-generated art rather than stock assets, the catalog also carries Leonardo.Ai (fine-tuned models for specific styles — photoreal, illustration, game assets — plus a canvas editor for inpainting and upscaling; $5/month standalone, Ultimate Plan only), Midjourney (text-to-image with a house style that leans cinematic, plus variations, upscaling and style/character references; $8/month standalone, Super Ecom and Ultimate), and Ideogram (the one to reach for when an image needs a specific phrase of text rendered correctly, which Midjourney handles less reliably; $5/month standalone, Ultimate Plan only). None of the three had a published vendor price list to cite as of this writing — check each vendor's site directly if you're buying standalone.

What each tool costs bought individually

All figures below are GroupbuySEO's own standalone per-tool prices (groupbuyseo.org pricing feed, synced 6 Aug 2026) — what you'd pay for that one tool on its own, before considering a bundle.

Stack every tool in that table individually — at GroupbuySEO's own standalone prices — and the total is just over $200/month, before adding anything else in the catalog. GroupbuySEO's five plans exist to cut that down by grouping tools people actually use together: the Essential Plan is $10/month for 5 tools (Semrush, Grammarly, Quillbot, WordAI and Ubersuggest); the Boost Plan is $15/month for 11 SEO and research tools (Semrush, Moz Pro, Majestic, SpyFu and others); the Advanced Plan is $30/month for 25 tools spanning SEO, AI, content and design (Ahrefs and Semrush included); Super Ecom is $35/month for 30 ecommerce and ad-research tools (AdSpy, AdPlexity and dropshipping-research tools); and the Ultimate Plan is $49/month for all 88 tools in the catalog, including every tool named in this guide. Full tool-by-tool detail for any plan is on its own page under pricing; the complete catalog (all 88 tools, not just the ones mapped to a job here) is browsable at /tools/.

A realistic weekly workflow

Put together, a reasonable weekly rhythm looks like this: research in Ahrefs or Semrush at the start of a content cycle (spot-check with Mangools if you want a second opinion on difficulty), cross-check the target's backlink profile in Majestic if Ahrefs alone doesn't settle it, draft with Jasper AI or HIX AI and tighten the draft with Grammarly or Quillbot, crawl the site in Screaming Frog before anything ships (WooRank for a fast client-facing summary), and check SE Ranking or Serpstat on a set cadence — weekly, not daily — to see what's actually moving. If ad or ecommerce research is part of the job, SpyFu, AdPlexity and AdSpy run on their own schedule tied to when competitors typically refresh creative, not to the content calendar above.

This workflow is deliberately narrow — it's core SEO plus the content and ad-research tools that sit closest to it, not every adjacent discipline. It doesn't cover dedicated local-SEO citation management or full video production, and if your work leans heavily into one of those you'll want tools built for that job specifically. It's also not the only valid sequence: some SEOs skip Mangools entirely and lean fully on Ahrefs, others swap Screaming Frog for a hosted crawler. Treat it as a starting structure and adjust once you know which stages actually matter for the sites you work on.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need every tool in this guide?

No. Each job above has 2-3 tools listed because they overlap rather than because you need all of them. A solo operator or small team typically needs one keyword tool, one crawler, one rank tracker and one writing aid — the multiple options exist so you can pick based on budget and how deep the reporting needs to go, not so you buy all of them.

Which tool should I buy first if I'm starting from nothing?

Ahrefs or Semrush, because keyword and competitor research is the stage everything else depends on — you can't audit or track pages you haven't decided to build yet. Between the two, Semrush edges ahead on paid-search data and Ahrefs on backlink depth; either is a reasonable single starting tool.

Is Ahrefs or Majestic better for backlink research?

They answer slightly different questions. Ahrefs' Site Explorer ties backlinks to organic traffic and keyword rankings in one view, which is usually what you want day to day. Majestic is an independently crawled index with its own Trust Flow/Citation Flow scoring, which is worth cross-checking against Ahrefs specifically because the two indexes don't overlap completely — a link Ahrefs missed sometimes shows up in Majestic and vice versa.

Can I buy these tools individually instead of a bundle?

Yes — every tool in this guide is listed with its own GroupbuySEO standalone price in the cost table above, and each has its own page linked throughout this guide. A bundle only makes sense once you're using three or more tools from the list; below that, buying individually is usually cheaper.

How much does a full stack cost through GroupbuySEO versus buying direct?

Direct from the vendor, Ahrefs alone starts at $129/month for its entry Lite tier (ahrefs.com/pricing, checked 2 Sep 2026) — before you've added a crawler, a rank tracker or a writing tool. The Ultimate Plan on GroupbuySEO is $49/month for all 88 tools in the catalog, including Ahrefs and every other tool named in this guide (groupbuyseo.org pricing feed, synced 6 Aug 2026). Vendor prices change without notice, so treat every vendor figure in this guide as a snapshot from its checked date and confirm on the vendor's own pricing page before you buy direct.

Are AI writing tools like Jasper AI or HIX AI a replacement for a human editor?

No, and none of the vendors claim otherwise. Every AI drafting tool in this guide is described by its own maker as a starting point — an outline, a first pass, a paraphrase — not a finished, publish-ready piece. Search engines and readers both penalize content that reads as unedited AI output, so a human editing pass (Grammarly and Quillbot both help here) stays part of the workflow regardless of which drafting tool you use.

What if I only need ad-spy tools for ecommerce, not the SEO tools?

SpyFu, AdPlexity and AdSpy are all listed with their own standalone prices in the cost table, so you can buy just those without touching the SEO side. The Super Ecom Plan ($35/month, 30 tools) groups them with dropshipping and product-research tools if you need more than one.

Where can I find a cheaper way into Ahrefs-style data if $25/month still feels like too much?

See our Ahrefs alternatives guide for tools that cover a meaningful subset of Ahrefs' keyword and backlink features at a lower price point.
